The President of Irada Organization said that the organization conveys to the Council the voices of thousands of victims and their families, who are still waiting to learn the fate of their loved ones amid the ongoing war and the harsh humanitarian conditions endured by Yemenis.
He pointed to the continuation of what he described as “grave violations” committed by the Houthi militia, including arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance, and torture, noting that the militia topped the list of recorded violations, accounting for approximately 92% of the total cases.
He added that the violations also include the planting of landmines and the recruitment of children from schools and summer centers, as well as subjecting children to exploitation and ill-treatment.
The President of Irada Organization addressed field developments during the first half of September, pointing to what he described as Houthi escalation against a number of cities and villages in Al-Hudaydah and Taiz governorates, and the resulting casualties and widespread displacement.
According to what was stated in the speech, the escalation resulted in the killing of 154 civilians and the injury of hundreds, while approximately 10,667 families were subjected to forced displacement in Taiz and Al-Hudaydah governorates, amid difficult humanitarian and living conditions.
He also noted that the displacement camp in Raghwan, Marib Governorate, was subjected to repeated attacks with ballistic missiles and drones, resulting in a number of casualties, including children.
The President of Irada Organization demanded that the Human Rights Council “give priority to the issue of Yemen,” calling for an immediate end to violations, the quashing of death sentences, and the release of all abductees, those forcibly disappeared, United Nations personnel, and staff of humanitarian organizations.
He also demanded the “unconditional” release of Dr. Ali Al-Madhwahi and Mohammed Al-Shami.In concluding his speech, he affirmed that “redress for victims is not a political demand, but rather a legal obligation and a fundamental human right,” calling on the international community and the Human Rights Council to continue paying attention to the human rights and humanitarian file in Yemen.
