Irada Organization Meets with the Permanent Mission of the European Union to the United Nations in GenevaGeneva – Switzerland

On the sidelines of the 63rd session of the United Nations Human Rights Council, the Chairman of the Irada Organization Against Torture and Enforced Disappearance, Sheikh Jamal Mohsen Al-Maamari, held an important meeting with Ms. Katerina Tapio, from the European Union Mission to the United Nations in Geneva.

During the meeting, an extensive discussion was held on the file of violations in Yemen, where the Chairman of the organization handed over a number of important human rights reports addressing the conditions of detainees, and the meeting touched upon the recent events and the invasion of the governorates of Taiz and Hodeidah, their shelling and destruction over the heads of their civilian inhabitants, and the forced displacement that accompanied these Houthi attac.ks.

The meeting also touched upon the recruitment of children and other violations that affected civilians and displaced persons.During the meeting, everything presented by the Irada Organization was listened to carefully and attentively, and it was discussed, and the evidence for these violations and the efforts exerted—which were prepared during the second half of the year 2026—were explained.

The seriousness of the violations practiced by the Houthi militia against regional and international peace and security was also discussed, along with the importance of restoring state institutions and ensuring that impunity does not prevail.

The European Union Mission welcomed the efforts made by the Irada Organization in defending detainees and victims of violations, praising its independent and transparent work, and the efforts exerted by the organization in the file of abductees and those forcibly disappeared in Houthi detention centers.

The meeting also addressed the issues of the abduction of employees of international organizations, including those working in the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights.

The meeting also addressed the situation of Dr. Ali Al-Madwahi and the World Food Programme, and the targeting of workers in missions and humanitarian organizations.

The Chairman of the Irada Organization, Sheikh Jamal Al-Maamari, also reviewed the organization’s efforts in monitoring, documenting, and following up on the files of arbitrarily detained and forcibly disappeared persons, the care for victims of torture and enforced disappearance, and what the victims have been subjected to from 2014 until today, emphasizing the militia’s continued abuse of civilians.

The Chairman of the Irada Organization also stressed the necessity of relentless and undisclosed work in following up on the conditions of those disappeared in secret prisons, monitoring those who committed violations, and the tremendous efforts exerted by the Irada Organization in this regard in preparing detailed files on the perpetrators of violations in the Houthi secret detention centers.

The Chairman of the Irada Organization pointed to the continued suffering of civilians despite the talk of peace for six years of neither peace nor war, without any notable result, in light of what he described as the organized terrorism practiced by the militia, including the recruitment of children, planting landmines, disrupting the work of humanitarian organizations, and the repressive practices to which civilians are subjected in areas under the control of the Houthi militias.
