Irada Organization affirmed that the repeated targeting of Aden International Airport, according to publicly available information, constitutes a matter of grave concern from both human rights and humanitarian perspectives, given the potential direct risks to the lives and safety of civilians, as well as its implications for freedom of movement, access to medical services for patients and the wounded, and the continued delivery of humanitarian and relief assistance to those in need across Yemen’s various governorates.

Irada Organization emphasized that civilian airports play an essential role in ensuring the movement of citizens and facilitating access to essential services, and that exposing them to attacks or security threats may result in far-reaching humanitarian consequences, particularly for the most vulnerable groups, including patients, the elderly, children, and families who depend on air transportation to meet their basic needs. The Organization stressed that the protection of civilians and civilian objects remains a fundamental obligation under international humanitarian law, which prohibits attacks against civilians and civilian objects, subject to the relevant legal provisions and conditions.

Irada Organization expressed its strong condemnation of the continuation of these attacks and the threats they may pose to civil aviation safety and the disruption of associated services. It warned that the continued exposure of Aden International Airport to danger could exacerbate the humanitarian situation, obstruct patients’ access to medical treatment, and adversely affect passenger movement and the delivery of humanitarian assistance.

In this context, Irada Organization called upon the relevant authorities to treat these incidents as matters requiring verification, documentation, and independent investigation, in order to establish the circumstances surrounding the attacks, determine the nature of the resulting damage, ascertain responsibility, and hold accountable all those found responsible for committing violations under international law.

Irada Organization called upon the United Nations, the United Nations Security Council, the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), and the relevant international human rights mechanisms to take urgent and practical measures to protect Aden International Airport and ensure the safety of passengers and airport personnel. It further urged these bodies to work toward conducting an independent and impartial investigation into the reported attacks, documenting the relevant facts and evidence, assessing their impact on the rights of civilians, and adopting the necessary measures to prevent their recurrence while ensuring the continuity of civil aviation operations and the delivery of humanitarian assistance without endangering the lives of beneficiaries and humanitarian personnel.

The Organization also called upon the international community to move beyond merely issuing statements of concern and condemnation and to take action through effective legal and institutional mechanisms that ensure the protection of civilian infrastructure, strengthen respect for the rules of international humanitarian law, and prevent those found responsible for violations from escaping accountability, while observing due legal process and guarantees of justice.

Irada Organization against Torture and Enforced Disappearance affirmed that its condemnation and denunciation of these attacks stem from its human rights position, which rejects any act that may endanger civilian lives or undermine their fundamental rights. It emphasized that protecting Aden International Airport, ensuring its security, and maintaining its operation for civilian transportation purposes constitute a humanitarian and human rights necessity. The Organization further stressed that the safety of citizens and their right to safe movement and access to medical and relief services must be afforded the necessary protection under all circumstances.

Irada Organization concluded its statement by emphasizing the necessity of immediately ending attacks that threaten the safety of civilians and civilian infrastructure, prioritizing the protection of human lives and vital facilities, and strengthening mechanisms for monitoring, documentation, investigation, and accountability, in a manner that contributes to reducing humanitarian risks and ensuring respect for the fundamental rights and freedoms of Yemeni citizens
