Irada Condemns Houthi Attacks on Saudi Arabia and Warns of the Iranian Project to Destabilize the Security of the Region

The Irada Organization against Torture and Enforced Disappearance condemns in the strongest terms and strongly denounces the attacks carried out by the Houthi terrorist militia against the territory of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which included targeting cities, civilian objects, and economic facilities, particularly in Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan, and Najran, after midnight yesterday, September 7, 2026, according to information received by the organization. These attacks resulted in the injury of 73 civilians, including women and children. It condemns the targeting of civilians, and the Houthi militia bears responsibility for the consequences of the targeting, including deaths, injuries, and terrorizing civilians.
The Irada Organization considers these attacks to be extremely serious criminal acts that constitute a flagrant violation of the rules of international humanitarian law, deliberate disregard for the lives of civilians, and a direct threat to the security and safety of the population, in addition to being a dangerous escalation that threatens the stability of the entire region.
The Irada Organization holds the Houthi militia fully responsible for these attacks and demands that it immediately cease targeting cities, facilities, and civilian objects, and refrain from using ballistic missiles, drones, and other means that endanger the lives of civilians.
The Irada Organization affirms that targeting cities, residential areas, civilian and economic facilities, in addition to threatening commercial vessels and freedom of international navigation in the Red Sea, reveals a dangerous approach that goes beyond the boundaries of the local conflict in Yemen and constitutes a threat to regional and international security and to the freedom of international trade and navigation.
The Irada Organization categorically rejects turning the Red Sea and international maritime corridors into arenas for political and military blackmail, or using the security of global navigation as a means of achieving political objectives.
The Irada Organization also condemns any Houthi terrorist acts targeting commercial vessels, threatening the safety of civilian crews, or obstructing the movement of international trade and supplies.
These acts constitute a threat to the food security of nearly 2 billion people, and a threat to energy supplies for the populations of Asia and Europe. Among the countries most affected by food insecurity are Yemen, the wider Arab region, and developing countries in East Africa and Asia, and these acts increase the suffering and torture of civilians in their daily lives.
The Irada Organization also condemns what it considers continued Iranian support for the Houthi militia and other armed groups in the region, and considers that the continued supply of armed groups with military and missile capabilities and drones contributes to prolonging conflicts and increasing the level of threat faced by civilians and the countries of the region.
The Irada Organization warns of the danger of the role played by Iran in fueling conflicts and supporting armed groups in the region, and considers that the continuation of this approach exacerbates humanitarian and security crises, threatens the stability of Arab states, and fuels the cycle of violence and fighting in the Middle East.
The Irada Organization affirms that supporting and arming armed groups and using them as arms for implementing regional agendas cannot be an alternative to respecting the sovereignty of states and international law, and that the continuation of this approach threatens to turn the region into an open arena for proxy conflicts, thereby causing civilians to bear the greatest cost. This Iranian support for the Houthi militia has made Yemen a quagmire of gross human rights violations, and the Houthis have committed crimes that bring shame upon humanity.
The Irada Organization affirms that what the Houthi militia is doing in launching ballistic missiles and drones, targeting civilian objects, and threatening international navigation cannot be separated from the regional conflict environment that is fueled by external support. It also affirms that civilians in Yemen, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and all other countries of the region are the greatest victims of these policies and of terrorism that has crossed borders.
In this context, the Irada Organization strongly emphasizes its absolute rejection of any targeting of civilians, regardless of the party behind it, and regardless of the pretexts or justifications presented to legitimize it, affirming that the lives of civilians are not a legitimate target, and that the protection of the civilian population is a legal and moral obligation that may not be manipulated.
The Irada Organization also affirms the legitimate right of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, like all countries of the world, to protect its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and its citizens and residents, and to defend its security and resources, provided that this is carried out in accordance with the provisions of international law and the rules governing the use of force and the protection of civilians.
The Irada Organization calls upon the international community to assume its legal and moral responsibilities and not to treat the Houthi-Iranian attacks as separate or passing incidents, particularly in light of the expanding scope of the threat to include the launching of ballistic missiles and drones, threats to international shipping and trade routes, and attempts to disrupt the movement of vessels and supplies.
The Irada Organization warns that the continuation of these actions may lead to serious humanitarian and economic repercussions, through the disruption of international trade routes, threats to supply chains, and increased transportation, food, and energy costs, which may directly affect civilians in Yemen and the region, particularly the most vulnerable groups.
The Irada Organization also warns that using starvation or obstructing the delivery of humanitarian or commercial supplies to civilians as a means of pressure or punishment constitutes a serious violation of humanitarian rules, and calls upon all parties to ensure unhindered access to aid and essential supplies for civilians.
The Irada Organization against Torture and Enforced Disappearance calls upon the international community, the United Nations, the Security Council, and concerned states to take more serious and decisive steps to stop attacks targeting civilians, civilian facilities, and international navigation, and to work to dry up the sources of funding and arming of armed groups that threaten the security of the region.
The Irada Organization also calls for an independent and transparent investigation into the attacks that targeted civilians and civilian facilities, identifying those responsible for issuing the orders and carrying out the attacks, and prosecuting everyone proven responsible for these grave violations of international and humanitarian law.
The Irada Organization stresses the necessity of holding accountable those responsible for targeting civilians and civilian facilities and threatening international navigation, and of not allowing impunity, regardless of the entity to which the responsible persons, supporters, or perpetrators belong.
The Irada Organization affirms that the silence of the international community, or limiting its response to statements of condemnation without taking effective measures, would encourage the continuation and expansion of these violations, and that protecting civilians requires a clear and firm international position that puts an end to targeting them and ensures respect for the rules of international law.
While strongly condemning the Houthi attacks against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Irada Organization affirms at the same time that its position stems from a constant principle that does not change: protecting civilians and rejecting their targeting, respecting the sovereignty of states, rejecting the use of armed groups as tools for implementing regional projects, and holding accountable everyone who violates international law.
The Irada Organization warns that the continuation of externally supported Houthi escalation, the continued targeting of cities, facilities, and civilian objects, and the threat to international maritime corridors constitute a dangerous trajectory that may push the region toward further chaos and destruction, and threaten regional and international security and peace.
The Irada Organization calls for an immediate cessation of these attacks, the protection of civilians, securing commercial and humanitarian corridors, putting an end to the arming and financing of armed groups that threaten the security of the region, and holding those responsible for crimes and violations accountable before the competent judicial authorities.
Emphasizing the principles that there is no immunity for those who target civilians, and no legitimacy for terrorism or the targeting of civilian objects; furthermore, the security of the region and international corridors must not be held hostage to political and military projects.Protecting civilians and holding perpetrators of violations accountable is an international responsibility that cannot be postponed.
