Irada Organization Condemns Houthi Attacks on Residential Neighborhoods in Taiz and Calls for an End to the Siege of the City
Irada Organization against Torture and Enforced Disappearance condemns in the strongest possible terms the ongoing Houthi missile and artillery shelling of densely populated residential neighborhoods in the city of Taiz. These attacks have resulted in hundreds of civilian deaths and injuries. The latest attack, which occurred yesterday, killed one man and two women and injured seven other civilians, including a girl and two children, according to information provided by the Emergency Department of Al-Thawra General Hospital. This follows other incidents, including the killing of teacher Mushira and her father. These tragic casualties reflect the grave dangers civilians face as a result of the relentless shelling and attacks targeting residential areas around the clock.
Irada Organization expresses its profound sorrow over the loss of civilian lives, particularly among women and children. It emphasizes that targeting residential neighborhoods and endangering civilian lives constitute serious violations of the right to life and personal security, further exacerbating the suffering of residents who face the risk of death and injury inside their homes and residential communities.
Irada Organization holds the Houthi militia responsible for the attack and its consequences for civilians. It also calls for an investigation into the external military and logistical support provided by Iran and other countries, the extent to which such support has enabled the militia to continue its attacks on residential areas, and the accountability of those involved under international law and other applicable legal provisions.

Irada Organization stresses the necessity of respecting the principles of distinction and proportionality and taking all necessary precautions to protect the civilian population. It further emphasizes that residential neighborhoods and civilian facilities must not be subjected to attacks that endanger the lives and safety of residents and undermine their right to live in security.
Irada Organization also demands an immediate cessation of attacks against residential neighborhoods in the city of Taiz and all other populated areas, the adoption of necessary measures to prevent their recurrence, and guaranteed access to urgent medical care for the injured, alongside the provision of essential healthcare and humanitarian assistance to victims and their families.
Irada Organization calls for thorough investigations, monitoring, and documentation of the locations targeted and the types of weapons used, as well as the preservation of medical and field evidence and testimonies from victims and witnesses, to ensure that those responsible do not escape accountability.
Irada Organization calls upon the United Nations, the United Nations Security Council, the United Nations Human Rights Council, and relevant international organizations to take a firm and serious stance against the violations suffered by civilians in Taiz and the suffocating siege imposed on the city by the terrorist Houthi militia. It urges these bodies to work toward strengthening civilian protection and ensuring accountability for documented violations.
Irada Organization reiterates its call for the prosecution of those responsible for violations established to be unlawful before the competent judicial authorities, in accordance with applicable legal safeguards and procedures.
Irada Organization emphasizes that victims are not merely statistics in reports. They are human lives lost, families enduring pain and grief, and children and civilians injured inside their homes and residential neighborhoods.
The names of Raghad, Mushira, and the seven wounded civilians serve as a painful reminder of the human cost of the continued targeting of residential areas and the urgent need for effective measures to protect civilians and safeguard their rights.
