Irada Organization Condemns Houthi Bombing on Marib and Demands Protection of Civilians.
Marib – Yemen
The «Irada Organization against Torture and Enforced Disappearance» condemns in the strongest terms the ongoing military escalation by the Houthi militia, along with the accompanying targeting of civilians, residential neighborhoods, and displaced persons camps in Marib Governorate using ballistic missiles and drones.
The «Irada Organization against Torture and Enforced Disappearance» has monitored a dangerous escalation that began on Friday, August 7, 2026, and peaked today, Saturday, August 15, as attacks continued from afternoon hours until midnight, hitting populated areas, civilians, and displaced persons, resulting in casualties and severe material losses.
According to field reports, the bombardment has led to the death of a number of civilians and the injury of dozens with varying injuries over the past days, with new injuries today among victims including women, children, and the elderly, in addition to widespread damage inflicted upon properties and civilian objects. Health sources also reported that members of a displaced family were among the dead and injured in the «Jaw Al-Naseem Camp», while the Houthi missile bombardment extended to the «Al-Myl Camp» and the neighborhoods of «Al-Sharikah» and «the Al-Matar Neighborhood Stream at Al-Khair Complex». The organization’s documentation teams continue to work on independently verifying the casualty numbers and the scale of damage resulting from these attacks.

Irada Organization affirms that Marib Governorate serves as a sanctuary for hundreds of thousands of families who were forced to flee during the years of conflict and forced displacement committed by the Houthi militia against millions of Yemenis, escaping violations and violence in areas under Houthi militia control. The targeting of refuge and displacement areas has exposed these families to new waves of displacement, gravely exacerbating the scale of the humanitarian tragedy.
The «Irada Organization against Torture and Enforced Disappearance» considers that the use of missile bombardment on densely populated areas, and the deliberate targeting of civilian objects, constitutes a war crime that necessitates investigation, accountability, and the prevention of impunity.
Accordingly, the Irada Organization demands that the Yemeni Government, the local authority in Marib Governorate, the Ministry of Health, and relevant humanitarian authorities provide an urgent response to the needs of the injured and affected, deliver medical care, essential aid, and protection to affected and displaced families, and enhance emergency and humanitarian response measures within residential neighborhoods and displacement camps.
It also calls upon the United Nations, relevant international mechanisms, and human rights organizations to document these violations, take serious and deterrent steps to halt the arrogance of the Houthi militia and stop the attacks that endanger civilians, and ensure respect for the rules of international humanitarian law.
Furthermore, Irada Organization affirms the necessity of supporting paths of accountability, justice, and reparation, ensuring the protection of civilians and displaced persons, holding those responsible for violations accountable in accordance with local and international law, and working to prevent their recurrence
Irada Organization renews its call to the Yemeni Government, the Presidential Leadership Council, and the United Nations to protect civilians and displaced persons in Marib Governorate, and to take urgent measures ensuring their safety and limiting the aggravation of the humanitarian crisis, affirming its continuation in monitoring and documenting violations and verifying information related to victims and damages, in accordance with approved human rights standards.
