Irada Organization Condemns Houthi Targeting of the Displaced Persons Camp in Ragwan

The Irada Organization for Combating Torture and Enforced Disappearance strongly condemns the shelling carried out by the Houthi militia with a ballistic missile and projectiles against a displaced persons camp in Ragwan District, Marib Governorate, yesterday, Monday, September 7, 2026.

The shelling targeted a displaced persons camp in the Asdas area of Ragwan District, north of Marib Governorate, and, according to the information received, resulted in the death of a boy and a girl and the injury of 15 civilians, including 8 children, in addition to the destruction and damage of a number of homes and vehicles, in a crime that targeted civilians who were already living in harsh humanitarian conditions and whose suffering has been caused by the Houthis for years and continues to this day.

The targeting of a displaced persons camp and the killing and injury of children and civilians constitute a serious violation of the rules of international humanitarian law, which require the protection of the civilian population and displaced persons and prohibit directing attacks against them or against civilian objects. Given that this shelling was deliberate, it requires an independent and transparent investigation and guarantees that impunity will not be allowed.

The Irada Organization calls on the concerned authorities and human rights and humanitarian bodies to open an urgent and independent investigation into the circumstances of the shelling, document the victims and damage, preserve the evidence, ensure that those injured, particularly children, receive the necessary medical care, and provide shelter and protection for families whose homes were lost or damaged as a result of the attack.

The Irada Organization also calls on the international community and humanitarian and human rights organizations to assume their responsibilities toward civilians and displaced persons in Marib Governorate and take serious measures to ensure their protection, stressing that the killing of children and the targeting of places sheltering displaced persons cannot be treated as a passing incident, but must be subject to full legal accountability.

The protection of civilians is neither an option nor a favor; rather, the Houthi terrorist militia must comply with humanitarian law, and any violation of this obligation must be met with investigation, accountability, and redress for the victims, in a manner that guarantees their right to justice and puts an end to impunity.
