IRADA Organization Condemns Attack on its President home

IRADA Organization against Torture and Enforced Disappearance strongly condemns the armed raid carried out by gunmen who targeted the home of the organization’s president, Sheikh Gamal Al-Maamari, in Ma’rib on the evening of Wednesday, 22 Jumada Al-Awwal 1447 AH, November 12, 2025, at approximately 9:00 p.m.

According to information obtained by the organization, an armed group of three men wearing civilian clothing stormed the home of Sheikh Gamal Al-Maamari. One of the gunmen entered through the outer gate of the house while the other two remained outside. Upon noticing the surveillance cameras, the gunman made hand gestures across his neck and chest, an unmistakable threat of slaughter and killing, before fleeing, as shown in footage captured by the surveillance cameras mounted on the house and the organization’s office.

As for the two gunmen who remained outside, one of them was filming the incident as if documenting the crime for the party that sent them, while the third attempted to open the hood of a vehicle parked in the courtyard but failed to do so. Seconds later, the gunman who had entered the house rushed out, and all three fled the scene together.

Sheikh Gamal Al-Maamari’s brother, Hafez Al-Maamari, along with several neighbors, promptly reported the incident to the security authorities, who responded quickly and mobilized their personnel to pursue the perpetrators, and managed to arrest them within an hour of receiving the report and after the attack occurred.

IRADA Organization against Torture and Enforced Disappearance affirms that there is no prior connection or acquaintance between the assailants and the organization’s president, and that the attack caused immense fear among the building’s residents, particularly the family of Sheikh Gamal Al-Maamari, including women and children who were terrified by the intrusion into the home’s living area at that late hour of the night.

Security authorities have confirmed that the perpetrators who stormed the house are from Al-Jubah District in Ma’rib Governorate.

Their names are:

1. Hussein Abdullah Al-Haddad

2. Abdulrahman Al-Ja‘shani

3. Abdullah Mohsen Al-Sayyid

The organization also stresses that it has no nighttime work shifts, and that entering the building at night is considered a grave and ominous act that could lead to murder or explosion, God forbid, further underscoring the seriousness and implications of the incident.

IRADA Organization against Torture and Enforced Disappearance extends its sincere gratitude and appreciation to the leadership of Ma’rib Security for their swift response and their success in arresting the perpetrators in record time.

The organization calls on the local authorities, represented by the courageous Sheikh Major General Sultan bin Ali Al-Aradah, and the security agencies in the governorate, to refer the perpetrators to the competent authorities and impose the harshest legal penalties on them, without leniency toward anyone who threatens the safety of citizens or engages in acts of terrorism that disturb public peace.

IRADA Organization against Torture and Enforced Disappearance urges local and international human rights organizations, as well as the United Nations, to condemn this criminal act.

The organization, through its president Sheikh Gamal Al-Maamari, affirms its continued commitment to monitoring, documenting, and defending human rights and advocating for detainees and the forcibly disappeared, without retreat or compromise.
