Chief of Irada Org & Yemeni Center (YCVVT) Meets Representatives of Diplomatic Missions at the United Nations Palace in Geneva.

The Chief of the Irada Organization against Torture and Enforced Disappearance, and the Yemeni Center for the Rehabilitation of Victims of Violations and Torture (YCVVT), met with a number of representatives of diplomatic missions at the United Nations Palace in Geneva.

During the meeting, they discussed Irada ’s recently issued report on Houthis’ secret prisons and detention centers, which documented severe human rights violations committed by Houthis militia against civilians. The meeting also addressed the terrorist activities carried out by the militia and its continued perpetration of widespread violations against the civilians.

The meeting further discussed the situation of United Nations employees and the escalating wave of arbitrary abductions carried out by Houthis militia against them, as well as the smear campaigns and fabricated espionage accusations directed at these staff members.

During the session, Irada Org Chief, who is known as the Dean of Yemeni Detainees and Prisoners, presented a number of testimonies and pieces of evidence condemning Houthis’ militia for committing grave crimes and human rights violations, providing a detailed explanation of this evidence and its devastating impact on civilians.

The meeting also examined the issue of child recruitment by Houthis militia, emphasizing that such practices constitute a blatant violation of human and child rights, particularly the right to a decent life, proper development, education and protection from all forms of abuse and exploitation. The discussion highlighted the dangers of sectarian indoctrination sessions organized by the militia in its so-called summer centers, which aim to alter children’s intellectual and social identity and push them into the fronts of war.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Irada Org reaffirmed its full support for the implementation of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child and its absolute rejection of child recruitment or participation in armed conflicts. The organization called for protecting childhood from the effects of war and ensuring children’s full rights to education, health and safe development.
