Eradah Organization Chief meets with the Officer for Yemen, the Middle East and North Africa file at High Commissioner for Human Rights

The Chief of Eradah Organization to Combat Torture and Forced Disappearance discussed in a meeting with Nadeen Sahuri, the Officer for Yemen, the Middle East and North Africa file at High Commissioner for Human Rights dozens of files delivered to High Commissioner for Human Rights by Eradah Organization regarding the forcibly disappeared and abductees. The meeting touched on the Houthis’ widespread detention campaign of the workers of foreign embassies and UN human organizations in Sana’a and other Houthis’ controlled areas, wrongly accused them of espionage with foreign parties in preparation for referring their cases to the Specialist Criminal Court. As Houthis Specialist Criminal Court, which was canceled by a republican decision of the legitimate yemen government, had arbitrarily sentenced many abductees without fair proceedings. The dean of Yemeni abductees and prisoners noted that the Houthis’ main objective of such abductions and detentions is to put pressure on High Commissioner for Human Rights, the UN and its Special Envoy in order to include the payroll file in the ongoing negotiations agenda between the legitimate government and Houthis rebels, adding that Houthis had already rejected the mechanism of salaries disbursement, to be provided by KSA, to be received by the entitled via bank transfer, they wanted to be paid via them so they could seize them. At the end of the meeting, Chief Eradah Org renewed the call upon the World Community, UN and rights organizations for putting pressure on Houthis to release all abductees immediately and unconditionally .
