Irada Organization Participates in the United Nations Second World Summit for Social Development in Doha

Irada Organization Against Torture and Enforced Disappearance took part in the Second World Summit for Social Development organized by the United Nations in Doha, Qatar, from November 4 to 6, with the participation of heads of state and government, international and regional organizations, and representatives of civil society from around the world.

During the summit, the organization attended the plenary sessions held in the main hall of the Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC), Auditorium 1, which accommodates 4,000 seats. The sessions featured speeches by heads of state, government officials, and UN representatives. The organization also held several bilateral meetings with international civil society organizations that hold consultative status with the United Nations.

In these meetings, Irada Organization Against Torture and Enforced Disappearance presented its human rights vision and its role in defending human dignity and opposing all forms of torture and enforced disappearance. It emphasized the importance of integrating human rights approaches into social development policies to ensure dignity and equality of opportunity for all.

The organization affirmed that achieving genuine social development requires a comprehensive human-centered vision that places human dignity and fundamental rights at the core of every development process, especially in a world marked by rapid social, economic, technological, and environmental transformations, and rising challenges such as poverty, marginalization, violence, and armed conflict.

On the first day of the summit, Tuesday, November 4, the organization participated in several key sessions, including:

Advancing Social Integration and Ensuring the Implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development for AllVenue: Exhibition Hall K3, Solutions Hub.Organizers: Young Naturalists Network (YNN).The interactive exhibition “The Copenhagen Legacy and SDG Solutions” showcased innovations for social good and promoted partnerships through technology, immersive displays, and networking spaces.

Inclusion of Children and YouthVenue: K26, Exhibition Hall 6, Qatar National Convention Centre.Organizers: Major Group for Children and Youth (MGCY).The exhibition highlighted the role of youth in driving social development, presenting interactive solutions to poverty, decent work, and social inclusion, and featuring live dialogues to enhance youth participation in global policy processes.

Civic Education for Global Citizenship and Sustainable DevelopmentVenue: K30.S, Exhibition Hall 6, Qatar National Convention Centre.Organizers: United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN).The exhibition presented a digital model for civic education that enables youth to engage as global citizens through interactive tools, storytelling, and partnerships to promote inclusion, democracy, and sustainable development.

Irada Organization Against Torture and Enforced Disappearance concluded its participation by holding several side meetings with more than thirty international human rights organizations. These sessions explored prospects for collaboration and the exchange of expertise on mechanisms to protect human rights and promote human dignity within the framework of sustainable social development.
