Irada Org Chief also addressed the repercussions of the arbitrary detention of UN employees and the resulting humanitarian harm caused by the closure of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights and the suspension of World Food Programme operations in militia-controlled areas, describing these acts as Houthi piracy. Al-Maamari further pointed to the disinformation campaigns orchestrated by Houthi activists to whitewash their crimes and secure funds from certain international organizations and European countries, stressing that such funds are used to finance terrorist activities, including the manufacture of drones and missiles employed to kill civilians and threaten international navigation, In addition, Al-Maamari touched on the plight of torture victims whose rights are neglected due to insufficient attention from some humanitarian organizations, explaining that the aid provided is often diverted in deceptive ways that prevent it from reaching the true victims. Irada Chief also briefed the German Mission on Houthi violations against victims of enforced disappearance and torture and addressed issues including child recruitment, homes bombing, racial discrimination, death sentences, and cases of forced displacement.
Mr. Majdi Al-Akwa discussed the ideological dimensions of Houthi militia and their destructive repercussions on Yemen and region. For his part, the representative of the German Mission expressed the German government’s concern over the issues presented and requested clarification on certain points, which were duly addressed by Al-Maamari.
Irada Organization, the Yemeni Center for Rehabilitation of Victims of Violations and Torture (YCVVT) and the Human Rights Association affirmed that the crimes committed by Houthi militia won’t lapse with time, underscoring their commitment to continue documenting victims’ cases in preparation for seeking justice and ensuring that perpetrators don’t escape accountability.
Irada further stressed that any negotiations or initiatives that fail to place victims and their rights at the forefront are doomed to fail.
