The meeting of the Chief of Yemeni Center for the Rehabilitation of Victims of Violations and Torture (will & hope) Sheikh Jamal Al-Mamari and his colleagues with Mrs Nadine Sahouri the official in charge of Yemen file in the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights @volker_turk‬⁩

  The two hours meeting discussed the gross violations of human rights, primarily the ethnic cleansing crime committed by Houthis militia against 17 abducted people from Harf Sufyan, Emran governorate. 


In the meeting, Yemeni Center Chief Sheikh Jamal Al-Mamari demanded that a fact-finding committee must be sent to examine corpses to determine the time of execution, stressing the need for holding accountable perpetrators of this heinous crime under international law.

    Al-Mamari also noted the torture in Houthis militia's jails which activists, prominent figures, journalists, teachers and doctors are subjected to for defending the rights of Yemeni civilians, pointing out the suffering of forced disappeared people and the psychological, health and living damage their dependants families have been suffering.

     In his speech, Yemeni Center Chief talked about the issues of human rights violations in Yemen, including women who have experienced violence in Houthis militia's controlled areas and the siege imposed on Taiz and accompanying sniping and abusing of children and women. An example was given of the severe torture of Intisar Al Hamadi, Asma'a Omais and other abducted women in Houthis militia's jails.

    The meeting touched on Houthis ideology which are against Yemeni community ideology and resulting disastrous impacts. Then, talked about the work of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights in Yemen and the need for updating the mechanisms of human rights work.

  The dean of Yemeni abductees Sheikh Jamal Al-Mamari pointed out the severe torture he was subjected to in Houthis militia's jails owing to defending human rights resulted in paralysis of his left arm. He mentioned also the torture, killing, abduction and forced disappearance experienced by Human rights defenders. He elaborated the reasons that lead him to oppose Houthis' thought, primarily the terrorist acts Houthis committed against civilians including bombing schools and houses, killing women and children in Dammaj of Sa'dah, Hajoor and Emran northern Sana'a and the subsequent unrestrained use of force that has resulted in fatalities in Sana'a, Taiz, Aden, Albayda and Marib. 
        Al-Mamari talked about the his colleagues whom Houthis militia detained them, including the journalist Yahya Abdulraqeeb Al Jubaihi and his two sons for opposing Houthis' racism and terrorism against civilians, Al-Jubaihi was sentenced to death after a long time of detention and was released through international mediation but his son stayed in Houthis jails for 5 more years, and what Dr, Abdulkader Al Gonaid was subjected to for opposing Houthis destruction of Taiz and killing its people.
        Al-Mamari also touched on the issue of detention of UN employees in Yemen, who were tortured to death, and so many others from KSA, Egypt and other country nationals including EU. 

     He explained the conditions of the forced disappeared and detained in Houthis jails and the conditions of their families, clarifying their tragic hard conditions resulting from detaining their breadwinners and the financial blackmail they face by Houthis' supervisors and members.

    Yemeni Center Chief explained during the meeting the efforts of the Yemeni Center and the future plans aiming at providing health and psychological care and rations for the victims and their families within the available capabilities of the Center. 
        Al-Mamari concluded by saying that that the true peace in Yemen can only be achieved through true transitional justice, reparations and ensuring that there is no impunity for perpetrators of violations and crimes, saying that the meeting had been constructive and looking forward to promising results that build confidence on the ground.
