We, Eradah Organization to Combat Torture and Forced Disappearance condemns in the strongest terms the execution of politician activist Mohammed Mohammed Qahtan Qaid by Houthis terrorist militia inside National Security Prison putting his body in hospital mortuary years ago. Houthis deliberately concealed the news of his execution till today for political blackmailing. During the prior period, information have been leaked every now and then from confidential sources in Sana’a, that Mohammed Qahtan was killed, however, We didn’t disclose the information till it was confirmed yesterday by a reliable source. The political activist Mohammed Mohammed Qahtan Qaid was born in 1958 in Al-udain district, Ibb province. The date of disappearance is on the 4th of April, 2015 The place of disappearance is Houthis National Security Prison in Sana’a.The case of disappearance: kidnapped by members of Houthis national and preventive security. The place of execution: he was shot dead inside the detention inwhich he was arrested.Mohammed Qahtan is a member of Yemeni parliament, an Islah party leader and spokesman of the Joint Meeting Parties from 2003 to 2011. He was included together with Maj Gen Nasser Mansour Hadi, Maj Gen Mahmoud al-subaihi and Brig Faisal Rajab in the resolution 2210 (2015) adopted by the Security Council that demands that the Houthis immediately and unconditionally safely release them. In 2023, the 3 military personnel were released in 2023, whereas Mohammed Qahtan still disappeared till we got the information of his execution. The sources confirm that he was killed in the same way as the commander Hameed Al-qushaibi whose body was kept in mortuary to be used later as political blackmailing. We, Eradah Organization to Combat Torture and Forced Disappearance call for an urgent international investigation of the crime of killing the politician Mohammed Qahtan, examining the body by forensic experts and those responsible must be held accountable. Houthis terrorism and decadence reached unprecedented levels to which no international terrorist organizations ever reached.International humanitarian law secure right to life, as the article 3 of Universal Declaration of Human Rights provides that everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of person. The Protocol to prevent and investigate extra-legal provides in the first article of preventive measures that “Governments shall prohibit by law all extra-legal, arbitrary and summary executions and shall ensure that any such executions are recognized as offences under their criminal laws, and are punishable by appropriate penalties which take into account the seriousness of such offences.”The 3rd article stipulates that “Governments shall prohibit orders from superior officers or public authorities authorizing or inciting other persons to carry out any such extra-legal, arbitrary or summary executions. All persons shall have the right and the duty to defy such orders. Training of law enforcement officials shall emphasize the above provisions”Since Stockholm agreement up to now, the outcomes we have witnessed were dozens death cases under torture in Houthis militia’s jails, burying hundreds of bodies under the heading of unidentified bodies after using special chemicals to dissolve their faces so as not to be recognized, killing 17 abductees inside detention in Harf Sufyan of Emran and killing 16 people through bombing a house in Sa’dah amidst the silence of the international community. As we confirm that Houthis militia killed the the political activist Mohammed Qahtan, we demand the legitimacy government to do their duty to call for holding killers to account and call on the international community for putting pressure on Houthis to deliver the body of Mohammed Qahtan immediately and unconditionally. The recognized government should reconsider the negotiation with terrorist organization such Houthis, as the Chief and members of the Houthi delegation were accused of committing serious crimes against abductees and concealed the body of Mohammed Qahtan for years in order to use it for compromising. We, Eradah Organization emphasize that the Yemeni people refuse the policy of the Special Envoy For Yemen who still uses kid gloves with Houthis militia despite all crimes and serious violations they have been committing against millions of Yemenis and UN workers are not excluded from it, but we haven’t heard any condemns from him to Houthis terrorists. The persistence of Houthis in committing gross violations against human rights for ten years in full view of international community is a challenge for international community and all international laws and is an affirmation of its inability to implement its resolutions falling under Chapter VII.We, Eradah Organization to Combat Torture and Forced Disappearance, express our deepest condolences to the family of Mohammed Qahtan and to all Yemeni people, hoping that the day inwhich we can hold perpetrators accountable for such horrific crimes against Yemenis.
