Assistance distribution ceremony to the victims of Houthi’s violations, Marib
To alleviate the suffering of the victims of Houthi’s violations, the Yemeni Center for Rehabilitation of Victims of Violations and Torture (will & hope) inaugurated on Nov 10, 2024 the distribution of medical supplies consist of scooters, various types and sizes of electric chairs, crutches, walkers and medical equipment to the war victims live in Marib, primarily those most in need.
The total cost of these medical supplies came to € 225,000, equivalent to 45,000,000 Yemeni Riyals, provided by the donor, whereas the Yemeni Center (will & hope) afforded the transport, charging and discharging costs, in addition to the stores rent and customs duties from the capital city of Germany Berlin to Marib city in Yemen.
The inauguration ceremony commended by reciting Quranic verses and playing Yemen national anthem, Then a group of girls performed a special song for disabled, after that the dean of Yemeni abductees and prisoners, the Yemeni Center Chief delivered a speech inwhich he expressed his hope that the assistance may contribute to improve quality of victims’ movement, adding that we are witnessing a heartfelt moment embodying the values of giving and social solidarity according to available capabilities, which might give some hope to those lived a life of incredible suffering.
The Yemeni Center Chief indicated that such initiative is indeed a significant stride in the right direction, that could keep the flame of hope alive despite the big needs of the victims and capabilities shortage, explaining that it's a small part of the plan of the Yemeni Center to rehabilitate the victims which reflects the giving values and solidarity with those sacrificed their lives for the lofty ideals and the country.
He also said that it's a pity we see the civilian victims undergo pain and deprivation at the time Houthis militia still practice murder, displacement, sniping and laying mines and explosive devices in Marib, Taiz, Aljwaf, Albayda, Hudaydah and Dhale, use uncrewed aerial vehicles and projectiles every now and then targeting the people houses and populous neighbourhood.
The Yemeni Center Chief added that we hope these medical supplies could contribute to improve the movement abilities of the injured and alleviate their sufferings, citing the suffering he has for ten years due to the torture he was subjected to in Houthis militia's jails, promising to keep on advocating the victims, the abductees and their families ensuring reparations and compensation for all victims and non-impunity of criminals.
The Yemeni Center Chief touched on the difficulties he faced to bring the cargo that took about 8 months to reach to Marib, starting from its charging in Berlin where it stayed in stores for four months, then transporting it to Munich taking a lot of time, effort and money before reaching Port of Salalah after 2 months, as we can’t manage to grant duty-free so we paid the customs duties and transport costs that were in total about 70 millions Yemeni Riyals.
In concluding, the Yemeni Center Chief expressed his sincere thanks to the donor and to all Yemeni Center Staff who made the efforts to the success of this cargo, demanding the legitimate government to pay attention to the victims of Houthi's torture, mines or projectiles.
Then, Sultan Al Jarmi, Rapporteur of Violations Victims Committee delivered a speech in which he stated the needs of disabled and their sufferings, expressing his thanks to the Yemeni Center for Rehabilitation of Victims of Violations and Torture (will & hope) for its effort to serve the disabled people.
After that, the disabled Basheer Al Asa'adi delivered a speech on behalf of the disabled and victims in which he demanded the government to take responsibility for the victims of Houthis militia's violations.
Then, Sheikh Mohammed Al Hashidi delivered a speech in which he commended the victims patience and endurance, calling on the State Leadership and international community to meet their needs of immediate medical and ensuring decent livelihoods for them.
The ceremony ended with Yemen national anthem.
